Reliability of Extended Kalman Filtering Technic on Vehicle Mass Estimation

In this paper, vehicle mass estimation problem was researched by the Kalman Filtering process to investigate effectiveness of Extended Filter technique on estimation, which has widely been studied related literature with all successful results. For purpose, a longitudinal dynamics model developed, and equations were transformed into well-known state space form. Nonlinear in its nature discretised linearized using Euler method. addition, road slope calculated inclinometer logic. IPG CarMaker® utilized overcome nonlinearities, design test environment conditions, as it observed that simulation results not met expectations logged physical data. Several scenarios run simulate level wavy different speeds. The showed could provide reasonable convergence when initial values correctly selected, no nonlinear issue occurred certain tuning parameters defined stable boundary conditions for estimation.
